The Safe and Drug-Free Schools Forum at the Comprehensive Center for Region VI
The Comprehensive Center for Region VI [CC-VI] is located at the University of Wisconsin, and serves Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
One of the ways that the CC-VI provides information and technical assistance to clients in our six-state region is through the use of web conferencing technology. Located at the CC-VI WebBoard is the Comprehensive Center's web conferencing platform. It is designed to promote dialogue (both written and real time chat), raise questions, examine ideas, share information and offer observations. The conferencing platform - an electronic bulletin board with "chat" room capabilities - allows for the posting of messages while providing the opportunity to get to know others through "chatting."
The Safe and Drug-Free Schools Forum is set up as a "private" discussion forum where participation is by subscription only. Its purpose is to be a place where you can post questions, ideas, materials and information pertaining to prevention and Safe & Drug-Free Schools and Communities programs. Information about recent research, best practices and technical assistance opportunities is posted on a regular basis. Questions by Region VI clients and others at a national level are also posted and discussed. Periodically, live-time chats will be held with nationally known experts and US Department of Education Title IV staff.
If you work in the areas of school safety, safe & drug-free schools, community and school-based prevention, or are a prevention technical assistance provider, we invite you to join the webboard forum. To join, send an e-mail with your name, job title and organization, as well as an e-mail address, to Eva Kubinski, moderator of the Safe and Drug-Free Schools Forum at CC-VI, at kubinski@facstaff.wisc.edu.
